In 2003, Dennis and Velda Lovell opened Blue Valley Gallery "to give me something to do", says Velda. Now, nine years later, that "something" has become a daily activity and passion for both of the Lovells. Velda began with the intent of painting in oils. As other folks interest picked up about in her art, so followed the teaching of classes, and a small but well supplied art shop. Dennis is on hand, too, managing other aspects of the business. Together, Dennis and Velda run the gallery like a tight ship. Blue Valley Gallery is a privately run gallery and art shop, organized and tidy, and facilitated by participation of a co-operative of about two dozen artists.
The gallery is steadily gaining attention and popularity. The word is out, and quality fine art keeps coming. Blue Valley Gallery represents a wide diversity of experienced artists, local to national in scope. With the broad array of media, visitors are finding more reasons to keep Blue Valley Gallery on their "Places to Visit" when they're in the region.
Blue Valley Gallery is a member of the Cashiers Chamber of Commerce and local Merchants Association. Dennis and Velda are very community related, and when talking with either, it isn't long before another merchant is mentioned. Planning to visit? Well, you're sure to find that the Velda approach to running a business makes you feel right at home!
Hours of operation for Blue Valley Gallery are 10 AM - 6 PM seven days a week, open year round. The gallery is closed for Christmas. Winter hours are the same as year round, weather permitting. " So, come on by, we would love to visit with you!"
